How are rugby balls different from footballs?
Rugby balls are different from footballs because Rugby balls are more oval shaped and they are not pointed like a football. They do not have laces like the football does. Footballs are better to punt with because they are more curved so it can grip your foot so it can go farther. The Rugby ball is better to kick field goals with because they are lighter than the normal NFL sized football.
How Much Physical Contact is there in Rugby Compared to Football?
Rugby has more physical contact because in Rugby you do not have any pads and no one is allowed to block for you when you are running the ball unlike football where you have an offensive line to block you so you don't get tackled. People in Rugby can get away with pretty much anything, because the referees don't really care if you get hurt and how you got hurt. But in football the referee can call a personal foul if you hurt another player, because they tape all the plays so they can go back and call the foul.
What is Skrum?
In rugby if you get tackled 5 times you either have to try to punt the ball across the field and hope your team is fast enough to go and get the ball. If your team gets the ball then it is considered a touch down. But if you don't have a fast team or you don't want to punt the ball then you can skrum. Which is where your team and the other with the exception of two people on each side get into a circle and they drop the ball into the middle and everyone kicks at each other to try to roll the ball back to your own team so they can pick up the ball and make a touchdown. But there is an exception to that. You can only use your feet to roll it back to your team.
The Rules of Rugby?
The rules of Rugby are really easy if you read them right. The first rule starts with the kick-off. When the other team kicks off your team has to catch if they touch it and drop it then you are down right there. You cannot pass it forward. You only can pass it backwards. You cannot block for your team mate. When you make a touchdown you have to touch the ground with the ball. You cannot tackle above the shoulders.
In Conclusion
The sport of Rugby is dangerous but it is fun if you play by the rules.
